Why does fitted furniture cost so much? (Spoiler Alert - it doesn’t)
Have you ever wondered why fitted furniture is so expensive? I have, often - its the reason I started Elemental Interiors. Quite simply it shouldn’t be and isn’t if you know where to look (clue; you’re in the right place).
For a large suppler to make a profit (and they most certainly do), they need to price in some significant overheads; the salesperson who usually works on commission (that’s why they can be a tad pushy), the surveyor who measures the site, the designer who produces the plans and visualisations and the fitters who turn up at the clients site in a branded van without knowing what they’ll be doing on arrival - oh, and their supervisors, managers, executives and possibly shareholders also want a slice.
A knock on effect is that these organsiations tend to stick to a standard set of designs, it may look unique to the customer but in reality its just a resize of an existing product rather than bespoke - think of the difference between a Savile Row suit and one from M&S with the trousers shortened (actually that’s a good analogy - another article to follow..).
That’s where Elemental Interiors (and we don’t claim to be unique), come to the fore. Because I only work locally my costs are kept to a minimum. Similarily, I am happy to quote without visiting your home (try that with the larger companies), I don’t want to waste your time or mine unless you are happy with the expected cost.
I will also do the design, survey, provide visualisations and - often - build and fit the finished product. That’s end-to-end, no mistakes, no handover risk and no middle man.
Plus (and as a result) my furniture is genuinely bespoke, every piece made specifically for you, either to your design or with my guidance. That ensures an efficient utilisation of your space and a unique solution that will last and last.
Oh, and did I mention I don’t have a branded van? Although I am thinking about a branded t-shirt (only about £10 if ordered on-line).
The result? I’m always at least 50% cheaper for a comparable project.
I’ll prove it, contact me now - no hard sell, I promise.
Regards,
Richard
